Position for Ph.D. student (September 2009) (provided post/poste pourvu)

Neuro-Immunology
Starting date:  January 2010

Project: Characterization of CD8+ T cells in multiple sclerosis

In our laboratory, which is embedded in the world-known laboratory of Prof G. Pantaleo and in close contact with the Service of neurology headed by Prof. R. Frackowiak, we apply latest cellular immunology technologies, with the aim to better understand the role of CD8+ T cells in the pathogenesis of multiple sclerosis (MS).

Specifically, we are interested first in the role of CD8+ T cells at the onset of the disease and in the association of environmental factors such as viruses or vitamin D and the development of MS.

A PhD position is available in our group to study in details the role of CD8+ and their cytokines in the early MS. Specifically, this will imply the characterization of CD8+ T cells in PBMC and cerebrospinal cells of MS patients, as well as the precise analysis of cytokine patterns in these patients.

Preference will be given to student with immunological and/or molecular biology background.

If interested, please send your CV with name of 2 or 3 references and a cover letter to :
