RESEARCH PROJECT ON STRUCTURAL FEATURES OF SECRETORY IgA
In this research project, we intended to determine whether free SIgA or SIgA bound to an antigen display the same sensitivity to intestinal proteases and interact with their cognate receptor with the same affinity. Our findings illustrate the concept that structural changes upon antigen binding modify the characteristics of the antibody, and explain specific interaction with M cells in the intestine.
